Puya: "Fundamental" - A few days ago I'm at my local record store looking for something different to purchase. Bored with everything out there I searched around like a man in a desert wandering aimlessly for water. Hungry and exhausted I stumbled upon the artwork of Puya's CD cover. Hum, I mumbled to myself. Why not, rock in Spanish. What a concept!
Combining sultry Latin beats with razor sharp heavy guitar riffs and bilingual lyrics, this Puerto Rican band has torn down that stereotype that we Latinos don't know how to Rock. Guess again, you're wrong! This CD has 12 sizzling tracks that cover a wide range of lyrical and musical influences that the band members grew up with in Puerto Rico. The music is definitely a tribute to the island's unique cultural mix. While guys are crushing their heads moshing, the ladies will be gyrating their hips to the salsa beats. Wake-up and beware America. Rock en Espanol Lives! Be afraid, very afraid. Viva Puerto Rico Libre & Viva Puya! Sean Fitzpatrick: "Beach 88th Street" - Sean Fitzpatrick is a songwriter's writer. His words are so personal that you will have the tendency to feel all of those emotions that you had hibernating within you soul for years. He has been in the local music scene for quite some time. In fact, I had the pleasure of not only meeting him, but also hearing this talented musician perform back in 1997 during the few open mics that were around at that time. His melodies are laced with jazz and rock influences. His lyrics are as proficient as those of Elvis Costello, and his music is a combination of Sting with Thelonious Monk sax leads. Sean is someone you should keep your eye on! chrisTine: "Magical" - According to her press kit Tine is here nickname and it rhymes with teen. Okay, cute! Christine Hamilton is a 15-year-old vocalist from Stamford, Connecticut who is trying to break into the current teenage pop frenzy that has taken over the airwaves. She is determined to "make it" less than a year after she decided to pursue her "love of singing & dancing" at a professional level. With lyrics written by her mother Jodi, and the formulated melodies produced by Steve Hensen, Christine showcases her "mature" vocals with this three-song demo CD. Good luck on your quest! |
